One of the biggest challenges in keeping your property well-maintained is trying to mow underneath trees. Even just the thought of getting a mower underneath those branches to cut those weeds, tall grass and brush can be daunting. After all, there are a number of hurdles to clear so you can mow underneath trees.

For one thing, those overhanging branches can make it tough to get you and your mower in under the trees to mow. A lawn tractor, which often has a high center of gravity, can make it uncomfortable or even dangerous for you to get in to mow underneath trees. With branches snagging you or your mower, it may not even be worth thinking about using a riding lawn tractor with an attachment or riding lawn mower.

A Natural Meadow or Prairie Brings Us Back to Our Roots

A little over a hundred years ago, hundreds of thousands of miles of grasslands covered just over a quarter of the continental United States. These native grasslands supplied habitat to an estimated 60 million Bison, not to mention a variety of species of grassland birds and other animals that made up the grasslands ecosystem. With the spread of agriculture across North America, along with the spread of the suburban lifestyle and the lawns that came with it, much of this native grassland gave way to farmland and lawns. Today, an estimated 24 million acres of lawn surrounds homes in America.

Recently many homeowners have begun to replace their lawns with a natural meadow and prairie that is made up of native grasses and flowers. Although the change to a native meadow can take some time and some elbow grease, there are quite a few [...]

Most of us know that it is possible to rent equipment, but many of us are not quite aware of the variety of rental equipment that is available. What’s more, it can sometimes be intimidating to think about renting a piece of equipment that we don’t use that often or have never used at all. Just as going to a car mechanic or a computer store can make us feel like we don’t know what we’re doing, it can be nerve-wracking to think about renting a piece of equipment for the first time. Not to worry though, rental equipment professionals not only have the knowledge to help you use the equipment correctly, it’s in their best interest to work with you to make sure that you know what you’re doing. This added level of service is just one of the reasons why equipment rental can be a great option for you!

So Much Trail Maintenance…

There is quite a bit to be thankful for up here in the Pacific Northwest: great coffee, mild weather (usually), beautiful and varied natural scenery and, of course, a wealth of trails from which to enjoy all that nature has to offer. Whether you are on a mountain bike, in a pair of hiking boots or riding a horse, there are just so many trails to get out and experience nature not only in the Pacific Northwest but all over the country. We are all so truly blessed to have such easy access to nature throughout the entire U.S. Hiking along those miles of open trails up here in Washington, I often wonder how our parks manage to keep them clear through storms that push brush and debris onto the trails, to fallen trees that can block trails entirely. Our national, state and local parks are constantly working at trail maintenance [...]
